Sachiko Suwa and Sumi Hirose opened Kosendo- sumi in 1996.
We were classmate in Kyoto Notre Dame School.
This house is a real Kyo-machiya in traditional style.
We cook a real house made menu in Kyoto with 10 housewives hands.
The shop is located at just central area of Kyoto city. (5min.ride tube from Kyoto Station)

The house built in Meiji period. It lasted over 100 years. The house had old signboard in front of her. Kosendo name follows it. Live Art Co. reconstructed the house in 1995 to make our lunch shop. Mt.Taniguchi (Live Art) selected woods carefully for us. Ms.Hiroko Hayashi designed colors of the house in order to Kyoto tradition. I think I succeed to keep the old good atmosphere of her.

- Tea
- We serve the real Kyo-bancha of long established tea house "Ippo-do".
Please enjoy the aroma of the roasted tea with special method. Hot tea is free.

- Namahu
- Many Kyoto foods came from Temple lives. Zen monks have eaten vegetables and crops.
Nmahu made from wheat and of rich protein. We serve it with hand stewed Miso souce.

- Vegetable
- We use Kyoto co-op and Kawaichi shop in Nisiki street.
Kyoto is so good at fresh vegetables because this city is surrounded with mountains and has good water with Kamo River.

- Menu
- We cook fresh main plate every day as in your house kitchen.
Japanese house wives cook various type of cuisine.
One day you may eat stewed hamburger, the other day Tempura, and one day spring rolls. We have over 30 main foods pattern.
